Capacitance Level Instrument with Ardunio

A capacitance level instrument made with an Arduino micro controller in support of PPT 135 Instrument and Controls class at Montana State University Billings City College. Students made a level instrument from two concentric pieces of copper tubing which form a capacitor. The dielectric constant of water is about 88 times that of air. By timing the charging cycle of an RC circuit, the level is indicated. The inner tube was wrapped tightly with electricians tape to prevent minor water conductivity from preventing proper capacitor charging.
