Welcome to this review of the music production software called DUB Turbo. This will be a critical and honest assessment of the beat making software, from the perspective of the music software consumer.
During this review of the popular music production software, I will try to give an honest opinion about the product, in a clear, concise manner, and try to avoid any technical jargon.
Firstly, a little bit about me. My name is Scott Wilkinson and I am a musician, producer and DJ, and have had experience with, pretty much, every bit of music making software on the market today.
When somebody pointed me in the direction of Dub Turbo, a beat making software I had never heard of, I was a little bit more than sceptical, but decided to give it a test drive.
This review will go over the good and the bad, the pros and the cons, and give an honest account of this particular piece of music production software.
When you start looking at making your own online music, and you have no idea where to begin, it can be difficult to find an easy solution.
Many problems can arise such as finding good quality samples, being able to put it all together as a tune and getting to grips with the interface without having any studio knowledge.
As you start looking into all the components that make up music production, the one aspect that stands out, more than anything else, is the expense. Dub Turbo solves that problem.
The software is relatively inexpensive and with access to thousands of beats, Dub Turbo is a complete solution in the form of a software package.
What Is Dub Turbo?
Dub Turbo is a Digital Audio Workstation (DAW), featuring everything you need to help you start making your own beats. Whether you want to start making Rap music, Dance music or R&B, Dub Turbo is the perfect beat making program to help you do it.
Dub Turbo is perfect for the novice musician that wants a fast and easy way to start making their own beats & music. The software is relatively hassle free and even someone without any prior knowledge of online beat making, can dive straight in and start making music.
Whilst the interface is relatively easy to understand, this does not mean that Dub Turbo isn’t a powerful piece of kit, as this could easily be used in conjunction with a recording studio or for live performance. Some of the Features.
The 16 Track DT Sequencer
This is main bit of the program and the place where you will spend most of your time sequencing your online beats. It has an easy to use point and click interface, which also be accessed with keyboard shortcuts.
The main features are 16 tracks to lay down the beats. These beats can either be drum sounds, keyboards or even vocal samples. It has a fully functional four octave keyboard feature, which can be used to program your bass riffs, chord sequences or floating arpeggios. It also has drum sequences, pad sounds and lead synthesizers, which can be tweaked to achieve the sound you are looking for.
Drum Machine Panel
This feature allows you to lay down the beats that you want and edit them however you please. One particularly nice feature is that Dub Turbo has the ability to change the drum kit you are using after you have made your beats. This can make for some unexpected results.
Dub Turbo has literally thousands of drum samples to choose from, so making the beat that you want has never been easier.
4 Octave Keyboard
This Feature is a particularly nice touch. Two octaves of the four are controlled by your keyboard, so you can play your melodies using keys without the need for MIDI (Musical Instrument Digital Interface) controllers.
It’s quick and easy to use, you just simply make the rhythm to complement your beat, and there are literally thousands of sounds to choose from. Samples include guitars, bass, keyboards and vocal samples, so the only thing holding you back is imagination.
As an avid user of propellerhead software, I tried my best not to like this software, but the truth is, it’s a fantastic bit of kit. It is designed with the novice in mind, which makes it much easier to make digital music, and fast. It features a full set of tutorial videos, to get anyone up and running, and you will literally have your first track finished within half an hour.
I’m not going to tell anyone to rush out and buy Dub Turbo, but what I will say, is that there isn’t an easier to use piece of software on the market, right now, that will help you create your music and beats with such ease and quality. FACT.
