What is The Manufacturing Process for LAN Cable?

LAN cables are mainly divided into two types. One is the 100Ω LAN cable promoted in the Americas, mainly for UTP (Unshielded Twisted Pairs). The other is the 150Ω LAN cable promoted in Europe, mainly for STP (Shielded Twisted Pair).

Today LINT TOP would like to introduce to you how data cables are manufactured.
Step 1: wire drawing

By using a wire drawing machine to pass through one or several drawing die holes, the cross section is reduced, the length is increased, and the strength is improved. Wire drawing is the first process for every wire and cable company, and the main process parameter of wire drawing is mold matching technology.

Step 2: Conductor insulation

The newly drawn conductor wire is evenly covered with a layer of standard plastic compounds through a high-temperature extruder.

Insulation extrusion is the most critical production process for LAN cables. The tandem line provided by LINT TOP simultaneously realizes wire drawing, annealing, preheating and insulation extrusion, reducing the production turnover process, increasing the production speed, and reducing the production cost.

Step 3: Conductor twisting

Insulated wires are twisted together regularly according to certain electrical characteristics.
First, two single wires are twisted into a unit twisted pair, and then four groups of unit twisted pairs with different twisting distances are twisted into a set of LAN cables according to the electrical requirements.

Stranding purpose:

1. Increase the flexibility, tensile resistance and stability of the LAN cable.

2. Stranding can offset interference from adjacent wires

Step 4: Sheath extruding

The UTP LAN cable extruded outer sheath also needs to be added with a rip cord.

The STP LAN cable extruded outer sheath can be added with plastic casted aluminum tape and rip cord.

Step 5: Finished product packaging

The finished LAN cable is packaged through LAN cable packaging equipment, usually it is a coiling machine, a spooling machine or an integrated coiling and spooling machine.

High-performance LAN cables require equipment with extremely high quality. From insulation extrusion to finished product packaging, LINT TOP provides first-class LAN cable production equipment and mature LAN cable production technology and customized turnkey projects.
